When you're first starting out, you just go at it in a triumph of energy & enthusiasm over technique and analysis. Worse still, in a musical "Zen" kind of way, neither approach is more valid. Marvin Posted September 1, 2009 Share Posted September 1, 2009 I'm one of the worst bass players ever, and after picking the thing up after a 15 year gap and trying to learn how to play properly, I was definitely more certain just playing root notes all the time.
