Cat Burrito
If you want a vintage P-bass tone, I swear by the Seymour Duncan SPB1 http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/bass...pb1_vintage_fo/ or there is the Antiquity range for a few more bucks http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/antiquity/bass/ The SPB1 is used by loads of pros looking for an authentic traditional tone. dannybuoy
I've just ordered the Fender 'Original' P-Bass pickup, which is the new name for their '62 re-issue, £60 on eBay. I've got a 2005 MIA that sounds a bit too polite, and I reckon this will give me the sound I'm looking for. Here's a Talkbass thread with a couple of clips comparing them to the Fender MIMs: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=576039 I've waded through quite a few threads on this subject, and generally the most commone answers are these Fender ones, Seymour Duncan SPB-1 / Antiquity, Lindy Fralin, DiMarzio. There's also the Wizard pickups, the Trad is probably your best bet.

Stewart
do you know the difference between the twin coil and the single coil in the antiquity range?
Completely different shape and size - the single coil models fit '51 or Telecaster basses... Though I do also want to try Wizard pickups myself next time, I need to upgrade a bass.
StevieD_FenderP2009
Seymour Duncan SPB-1 or Seymour Duncan SPB-3 Quater Pounders My personal preferance is the SPB-3's paired with either a set of Rotosound Flats or Rotosound Swing Bass RS77LE heavy gauge strings Tone is phenomenal
