Fender fretless Jazz?

Someones selling a [url="http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fender-Fretless-Jazz-Bass-Guitar_W0QQitemZ140342928566"]fretless jazz[/url] that doesn't know anything about it -

"I have no idea of the spec as im not a musician. It comes with a hard case and some spare strings. It is black."

He's also selling a white fretted Jazz which is a MIM.

Don't recall ever seeing a fender jazz like that with an unlined fingerboard. It may be an unusual Japanese model, but I'd guess its likely to be a bitzer. The neck looks similar to my brandoni precision neck & the decal could be an eBay job. If the bits are decent quality it could be worth a punt if its cheap enough. As its being sold as a fender you're covered if it turns out to be a customised argos bass, but probably too much hassle unless a pickup is possible.
