EskimoBassist
Just got back from Leeds Festival, fantastic weekend as always. Anyway, stood watching Placebo in the absolute tipping rain, it was clear that the stage was turning into quite a lake. Much to my amazement, none of the members of the band made any efforts to stop their pedals from getting wet, just leaving them out at the front in the constant downpour. I have always been under the impression that electrics and effects pedals don't mix with water, let alone heavy rain coupled with even heavier stomps. Can you actually do anything to protect your pedals from dying in the rain? Or was this perhaps just a case of F*** it and if they break I can easily replace them? Kev
how much at risk would battery powered pedal be from rain?? i would have thought it was a pretty water tight.
iamapirate
I'd love to see if one of them had a valve-driven pedal and to watch the steam slowly rise from the pedalboard! I expect they could just buy new ones, or get someone to repair it pretty easily.
stevebasshead
I'm guessing there was some sort of plastic film covering them that couldn't be seen from the audience. I'd be very surprised if a professional (or any!) musician would risk losing his signal chain mid-gig due to water ingress shorting something out. Low End Bee
I've got an open air gig on Sunday and due to my 2 month old Trace combo going back for warranty work (the graphic EQ has turned into a mute ! grrrrrrr!) I'll be relying solely on a sansamp programmable BDDI. I'm thinking a little raised platform, WD40, cling film and my four year olds Spiderman umbrella gaffer taped to the stage should do it.
