Hot Tub
Well, having done away with my ME50B because "I don't use it", I've now discovered that the one thing I did use - all the freakin' time! - was the volume pedal! So, can anyone recommend me a nice, smooth, preferably passive, volume pedal?
cheddatom
the standard seems to be earnie ball, but there are loads of cheap plastic passive volume pedals around. Can't you use your knob?

Obviously there's hard and soft picking/plucking, but I also like to have my foot on the throttle. As it were. I guess what I really need to know is: Are any of the passive pedals bass-specific, or will they work with anything?
cheddatom
they will work on anything, I used a bespeco one for years - about £15.
Doddy
I had a bespeco for a bit but thought it sucked-it was nasty plastic and had no real sweep. I now use the Ernie Ball, which is great. The Visual volume is good too,as is the Boss one. The Morley 'Little Alligator' is nice but I didn't like the sweep of the pedal-it seemed to short for me. I'll always recommend the Ernie Ball though. It's sturdy, has a nice sweep, and has an independent tuner output. I've used it on every gig for the last 3 or 4 years. alexclaber
The Ernie Ball Jr.s are nice. But with practice you should be able to get just as much dynamic range with how you pluck, and they'll sound like real dynamics due to the resulting change in timbre. If you do get a pedal, make sure the pot value is similar to the volume on your bass (so 250-500k for passive pickups, ~25k for active pickups) or you'll either lose a load of highs or have a very uneven sweep. johnnylager
The DeArmond is supposed to be good & uses a 1M linear pot.
