Me thinks this is a little overkill J
Behringer are renowned for having a very casual relationship to reality when it comes to numbers. Someone on here (not sure who) pointed out on a similar product (Bugera) that if it really was 3600W, it'd be drawing 15A from the mains. Doesn't leave much left for anyone else on the same circuit. Anyway, anyone can see this is stupid marketing 'mine's bigger than yours' oneupmanship taken to extremes. I can't remember the math, but the power / loudness relationship is not linear anyway, i.e. this is not 12 times as loud as a 300W amp. Edit: doh! it is the same amp as previously discussed. If I could be bothered I'd post a link, but I cant so I wont. Edited September 3, 2009 by SteveO
Stylon Pilson
That'll be 3600W PMPO. The RMS rating (as used by other manufacturers) will be much less. S.P.
henry norton
In spite of what the write up says it does look like it's "just about the power". Any write up that uses the word 'ultra' is bound to be a let down. Gimme 100 watts of EL34 power anytime....
alexclaber
Only Behringer would be so desperate to attact attention with such a powerful amp that they feel the need to talk in peak power rather than continuous RMS power! Despite it only having about half the claimed power it's still more than enough to kill any of their cabs... I wonder how much of the R&D on this amp involved a competitor's product and a photocopier? Alex
Kev
why would anyone buy this? Even if it was that powerful, the only people who would need it would play in large venues, and chances are then they can afford to buy better quality equipment... Uncle Balsamic
Oh, that head - the one that's not 3600W... Edited September 3, 2009 by Uncle Balsamic

alexclaber
If they are using the truly comic PMPO 'standard' then by that measure the power amp in my U5/PLX rack is 12000W. Pwned, I do believe. Alex
BIG.J
Thats 3200w more than my PA!! Thing is, What cabs would they expect someone to use?
iamapirate
cmon, thats just an attention cry- 'look at me I'm powerful!' If it really was as powerful as it implies (which it aint as it's not RMS) then they wouldn't need to boast about it... like apple.
Stewart
Aye - total nonsense those figures. If you multiply the mains current drawn (~10A) by the voltage (~240) and then give them a guesstimated 90% efficient power supply, that's somewhere just over 2kW I reckon. Mind you, the difference in audible output between 2 and 4kW is almost nothing....
