Jarhead
Hey guys, I need some help. I want to build a small mixer type thing, two channel job with a single output. It's for my Whammy pedal, and I want to take the outputs, distort them separately and then mix them back together. I'd want it to be passive if at all possible. I'd prefer two separate volumes, much like a Jazz bass has, two inputs, a single output, and the wires as short as possible. I'd also prefer it to be as small as possible, MXR size or smaller if possible. I'm just wondering what parts I need, and also a basic wiring diagram, just to have a rough idea of what to do, as this is my first build of this type. I can already solder, and I can get hold of the parts easily enough. Thanks for any help you guys can give me, it's greatly appreciated. Al Heeley
These links should get u started on the right track, don't think you will achieve your goal with much sucecss using a passive only system, it's going to need some sort of buffer and /or signal boost to help preserve tone at lower levels. Jarhead
Ah, OK. How much more complex would this make the circuit? If you can scrawl out a really basic diagram with the values of components on, I can get my electronics teacher at school to help me out with it. gnasher1993
I think that for this application, a simple passive mixer should do the job. It's not an expensive thing to make, so it's gona set you back too much if it doesn't work quite how you want. If you had to add a buffer, it would make the circuit alot more complicated. cheddatom
yeh seeing as you're going to have both chains coming out of active pedals, and I assume they have level knobs, then one of those headphone splitter thingies will do. Otherwise I have this mini mixer I bought off ebay for £10 that has 3 channels 3 knobs and a mono jack output. You could probably find another, or if you really struggle I could send you mine. I never use it.
Jarhead
That sounds pretty good Cheddatom. I should actually be going up to Stoke soon to see my girlfriend, maybe we could just do that in person. I'm liking your band by the way, really good songs. How big is the little thing? I'm going to be building a pedalboard soon, jsut wondering so I know how big a space to leave for it. Zach
