Hi folks anyone got an ideas for a bag/case for a palatino ve500, I've got a gig down south next week and I'm going to fly so I'm not taking my upright.

On talkbass some guys have mentioned making a case but I'd rather just buy something, snowboard, bags ski bags, keyboard bags an ideas appreciated.

I had the dimensions somewhere but can't find them I think the bag would need to be about 170cm.

I reckon snowboard bags are too wide, ski bag might be a good bet like you suggested, what about rifle bags? maybe a bit short? Do they not make a bag for the palatino?

Have a look at some match fishing holdalls, Preston Innovations do decent stuff in their Hardcase range (you might need to download the PDF):

I use a similar one (for fishing, not gigging!) and it's taller than me and i'm 6'5"

You might have to modify the interior and i have no idea if it would be wide enough for a Palatino. They're usually divided into 2 sections. Loads of fishing shops stock Preston gear so you might be able to have a look at them before buying

Some U.S. guys have talked about flying with an EUB in a (hard) golf-case .... that might however be EUBs that have removable necks such as BSX or eminence. I know you can get hard cases for flying golf clubs from eBay.

You may also want to look at standard flight-case manufacturers such as SKB (and there must be more) for cases for mic-stands ... I know I was looking out a solution once and that looked like an option to me at the time.

Hi There, I am in the process of finding a more protective solution for transporting my NSCR5. After extensive internet searches I found anything out there was either too big, too small and too heavy. So I am about to try a length of drainage pipe, A drainpipe would be the perfect solution but the largest internal diameter is 6"", however after further searching I have discovered a merchant locally who stock an 8" diameter pipe, slightly larger than needed but I will be able to keep my bass in its bag for added protection. They also said that they can sourse stop ends for me. I will then attatch a handle, have been looking at a carrying handle for divers cylinders, still thinking about a method of attatching a shoulder strap but I am sure that will not be a problem. There will not be space for a stand but I normally transport this seperately so not an issue. The cost, the pipe only comes in a 6 meter length but being man made this can easily be cut to size with a hack saw £65.00 plus VAT, end stops £10.00 each, carrying handle under £10.00 on eBay. So fingers crossed I could have a fairly light and very strong case for under £100.00 with enough pipe left to make a further two. On monday I intend to take my NS to the merchant to be double sure all is well. I will post images on Basschat.
