Oscar South Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 A little of the nut of my Status has been chipped off (the bit between the E string and the edge of the neck), it looks like its not actually part of the neck itself but a bit thats been molded on seperately and I have all the parts, but how do you think it would be best to repair this? Remove the E string for 24 hours and set it with superglue or will this be too fragile? Should I send it in somewhere? Can anywhere repair damage like this? Cheers, Oscar. Quote
steve-soar Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 What kind of Status is it. Super Glue won't work. Show us a pic if you can. Steve. Quote
Oscar South Posted September 4, 2009 Author Posted September 4, 2009 (edited) Its a Status Energy 4, heres a pic. How come superglue won't work? It plays alright without that piece there so I doubt theres a lot of pressure on it. Edited September 4, 2009 by Oscar South Quote
Johngh Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 To be honest I'd give Rob a call at Status, he's very good at helping with this sort of thing. Quote
Oscar South Posted September 4, 2009 Author Posted September 4, 2009 Is that just the number on Status' contact page? Gave it a call earlier but everyone must have gone home. I don't want to have to wait the whole weekend before I can fix it.. argh  I guess I'll just have to be patient. Quote
henry norton Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Superglue is too brittle to fix something like a nut. Epoxy resin (Araldite) is a better bet and is effectively what the woven graphite of your Status neck is glued together with. Worth a trip to B&Q.... Quote
OutToPlayJazz Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Yes, definitely a call to Status in order there. Quote

GreeneKing Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 If you chipped your nuts on your Status perhaps you're holding it all wrong? Quote

Tell them you need it done ASAP, otherwise you'll go into the queue of Doom. Edited September 5, 2009 by steve-soar Quote
mrcrow Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 your zero fret has a bit of a groove in it so it sets the height and position of the string the nut must be a bit superfluous and i dont think gluing it would be bad superglue...?? i cant comment but epoxy will do it in about 24 hours Quote
Mr.T Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 My money says... Rob @ Status will suggest epoxy. (The nut doesn't do much anyway). Quote
