lee4
I played at The Prince Albert in Brighton last night, and the bass player from one of the support acts had a bass that looked like a Warwick thumb, was thru-neck,but the head stock had a V as the logo.It was in a natural wood, possibly bubinga. WTF was it?
YouMa
Sounds like a vestax or vester to me they are a cheapo version that were out a few years ago.
Dood
or Vintage?
metalmickey
Yep, either a Vester or a Vintage. Though the neck-thru and (if indeed this was the case) a single V on headstock would suggest Vester. They are quite hard to come by as I remember, but they are quite good quality. Used to be quite a few owners round my neck of the woods, saw a lovely quilted maple green one for sale a while back and regret not grabbing it. BassAgent
Wouldn't it be Vantage?
lee4
Thanks guys. The bass looked great and had a good mid-range growl on it.I quite fancy one.
kingofthestuntmen
Have a look here - http://www.vesterfansite.nl/page10.php?vie...amp;category=14 - It's a fantastic Vester resource. I've owned a coule of Vester Tradition Series G*itars and they were phenomenal.
The Burpster
With just a large single V on the headstock it sounds like a Vigier Arpege to me..... MoonBassAlpha
Vigiers don't look like a Warwick Thumb though.
RhysP
If it looked like a Warwick Thumb I'd say it was a Vester (Vestax?). Excellent basses, and they can be picked up really cheaply.
lee4
Got it!It's a Vester Clipper. Thanks for the help.
AndyTravis
Yeah, Vester, what happened to that brand? Cant believe the Vigier thing, hahaha. WARWICK THUMB...oh the EXCESS? yup, just the same.
Bassassin
Yeah, Vester, what happened to that brand?
Leo's boys shut 'em down. Not because they did top class Fender knockoffs (which they did) but because the brand name itself was thought to be a bit close for comfort. Weird. Jon. Thats how Status basses came about - Fender did not like the `Strata' name, hence Rob had to change it.....! Gits eh!?
