Bass Improvisation books

So, as I am in quite serious trouble, when it comes to improvisation/soloing, I've been looking for some books to buy, that covers it..

I was amazed by Ed Friedland's "Building walking bass lines', really clear, in-depth and informative stuff there, so, I thought, his Bass Improvisation book would be somethin' similar, but, as it is published(?) by Hal Leonard, I fear that it will be sort of a 'fast food', as his other books, published by Leonard, are,( in my opinion, of course..), if you know what I mean..

All in all, I don't know, where to look for informative books, that have fundamentals of soloing in pop music (jazz-based books don't interest me in this case..)

Any suggestions here?
Faith.
