Musicman20
Hi Not sure If I need a full board really. What do you think? Would it make life easier? Using: Sanamp BDDI Boss Tuner Line 6 Guitar Delay DL4 (quite a hefty bit of kit) Will be adding an Aguilar Tonehammer for different tones and different crunch cf to the BDDI 4 pedals max....I doubt ill get anymore. The Line 6 is only on there for when Im using guitar....although never tried it with bass, (the delay on this thing is very very nice!). Is there any point in a powered board? They are all virtually different power supplies, and tbh I could just use the BDDI or Tonehammer plus Tuner for bass. But, might be nice to have it all in one package. Any ideas? I have no knowledge on effects boards and power supplies. The Line 6 has its own plug because its quite power hungry, the rest are usually battery. I might add one or two in the future. Delberthot
I'm in the exactly the same boat right now so I'm looking forward to the replies. I have a Korg pedal tuner, Boss OC-2, a DI box and may get another pedal in the future like a flanger or similar. The main reason I would like a powered board if possible is simply to have everything permanently connected and neat & tidy. It's just a mass of cables at present

Finbar
I would say yes to anybody using more than to pedals - you would benefit from a board. Until you've done it, you just can't appreciate how much simpler it is turning up to a practice or gig and plugging two cables and one plug in, and then every pedal is working, the right spacing away from each other, with all your settings intact and minimal travel/breakages on your patch leads. Not all pedalboards have to be big, and if you go the DIY route, you can get something exactly the size you need. As for powering them, the TU-2 uses a 9v supply, as does the BDDI (I assume!). The Tonehammer runs off 18v, but you can get a voltage doubler to plug into a 9v plug (I do this on my board), and the DL4 will also run off the same 9v supply if you have the correct adapter (again, I do this with no problems). So you only need one power supply with a single daisy chain cable and a couple of adapters. .

Is it best to get one of those Dunlop brick things?! Ive no idea where to look for boards....id prefer not to have to attach them by something thatll mark the paint on them. Maybe this but larger? Urban Bassman
Pedaltrain - Make great pedal boards, come with a case or a bag as well. I've got a Pedal Train Junior which has two pedals and my TC Electronics Foot Controller and there's more than enough space for a another pedal if I wanted. I got a power supply from Maplin which works well, i've mounted on the underside of the board so it doesn't take up any space on the top of the board. http://www.pedaltrain.com/Home/Pedaltrain_JR and one of these... The Gator looks good as I can just buy it powered and it wont be too heavy in the carry bag. Plus, I wont use it that much so a smaller one is best....as long as I can get 3-4 on it im happy. Musicman20
C'mon guys Ive searched on here and talkbass. I dont want to use my DIY 'skills' id rather buy a nice board and power supply. Its as I said only for 3-4 pedals MAX....so if you lot think its pointless, please say. Ill never had loads of effects, im just more into the straight sound of my basses.
iamapirate
Well, there's that £3 one from ikea... For power supply, you really don't need a power brick or anything, the Boss TU-2 can be daisy-chained to the others, and it looks neat and takes up less space (and weighs so much less!). What you really want is a plank of wood at the enjd of the day. i'd sell you mine but I need it Keep a look out in the for sale section (as I did) and you won't need to spend more than £20! Phaedrus
DIY allows you to make the perfect board/case, IF you know you're final FX collection & set-up. I made my own case and it was a dream to set up live - as has already been said: connect to power, guitar in, amp & PA out - magic! My FX collection has changed so I'll be making another soon, and I have a question . . . I have a pretty firm idea of what pedals I want: Korg DT-10 (already have this) Dunlop 105Q or Morley PBA-2 wah T-Rex Sweeper chorus MXR El Grande Bass Fuzz or EH Nano Bass Balls (or some similar decent bass overdrive - recommendations welcome) Aphex Bass Xciter Aphex Punch Factory Hartke VXL Bass Attack (already have this) Here's a mock-up of what I have in mind (I'm not yet sure about physical and signal pedal order): AFAIK, these are all 9v pedals, so my question is this: could I use a single 9v power supply with a daisy chain connecting them all, despite the pedals not all being from the same manufacturer? If yes, can anyone recommend such a PSU & daisy chain? Thanks, Mark Edited November 9, 2009 by Phaedrus

Toasted
If we're talking "best" I'd always use a Pedal Train and a Pedal Power II+.

If it helps I sold my Morley after trying a 105Q (But then again I sold both and ended up with an MSD )
Phaedrus
After reading as much as I could find, I think it'll be the 105Q rather than the Morley, so that pic is ok. I did actually mock one up with the Morely pedal as well and the board was well over a metre long! Thanks for the heads up. Mark
Phaedrus
Turns out my guitarist (who plays bass in another band) got a 105Q and didn't like it, so got a Morely. Looks lik I might try his 105Q and make an offer if I like it. I'll bump my question again: Could I use a single 9v power supply with a daisy chain connecting all the pedals, despite them not all being from the same manufacturer? Thanks, Mark
Mykesbass
Hope this isn't breaking forum etiquette but, I've got one of these: http://www.dv247.com/assets/products/56718_l.jpg and one of these: http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/81945 which are both amazing but were from my 6 string days, not much call for them with an EUB! Let me know if they are of interest as I'm having a bit of a clear out and open to offers.

Tee
I've recently bought a T.Rex Fuel Tank Junior (power supply). Finally, hum free FX! I don't use many (tuner, comp, fuzz...) but i'm thinking about getting a Pedaltrain Jr and one of those patch lead kits. It will save so much setting up and packing up at practice and gigs. No more batteries/adapters and just one standard shape/sized plug. Edited November 19, 2009 by Tee
