Doing some upgrades at the moment,I have 3 wires 2 black and one white coming from each pickup in my fender jazz which is the hot and which is the common? I would assume the 3rd wire from each pickup is for shielding each pickup cavity, anyone know.Cheers.

Thanks for your help mate,if im left with these 2 shield wires once the other wires from the pickups have been attatched to a blend pot,can i just attach them to the earth/ground screw thats in the cavity? Once again thanks for your knowledge.Mark

I should think that any ground would work, either to the back of pot or a screw.

There's a Fender webpage giving a load of wiring diagrams here which should help you.
