charic Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 Help me decide between these two folkses Quote
bnt Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 Spector all the way for me. The only Warwick shape I've ever liked is the Thumb bass, since I saw Jack Bruce with one. I thought about getting one, but was put off by the price, and the fact that that the body size might suit Jack, but not me, since I am about 18 inches taller than JB. Quote
E_MaN Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 for the prices you are lookign at neither of them.....get the schecter stiletto elite 4....beautiful bass and its thu-neck... Quote
...but the Streamer is the same shape as the spector? Licensed from them to be exact... I'd go for the Warwick since I have one and love it to bits! Saying that they're both good basses, but not in hollowflash - that look gets old pretty quick! Quote
charic Posted September 21, 2007 Author Posted September 21, 2007 i like the holoflash i like to be a bit different Quote
richy316 Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 Warwick! The guy from Mastodon plays one Quote
cetera Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 Spector all the way..... why get a copy when you can get the original? Quote
ARGH Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 Neither.....Buy a Fender P and change the pickup. Get yourself a Sansamp DI and decent cables. Quote
Kiwi Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 as much as I like Spectors, the legend might lack a bit of depth. So I'd have to vote warwick. However in an ideal world, I'd go for a non-Fender jazz - more versatile. Quote
gilmour Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 I've got a Spector and a Warwick - If I could only have one it would be the Spector, it's just ... I dunno, I just prefer it. Quote
bass_ferret Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 Not lived with either but preferred the Spectors I have tried to the Warwicks that most seem to have necks like logs. I think you should get what you want not what we want, and expand your choices. Quote
charic Posted September 22, 2007 Author Posted September 22, 2007 Just wondered what would be the PREFERRED choice if you understand? i.e. best bang for the buck Quote
paul, the Posted September 22, 2007 Posted September 22, 2007 Buy both. Unfeesable? - try both until you pick one. Quote
Russ Posted September 22, 2007 Posted September 22, 2007 The Spector. I had a Legend 5 for a little while, and it was an awesome bass. Certainly a lot more usable sounds in it than the Warwick, and a much nicer neck to boot. Quote
charic Posted September 22, 2007 Author Posted September 22, 2007 Ive never actually managed to find a spector... any ideas? Quote
Machines Posted September 22, 2007 Posted September 22, 2007 Hmm i'd go Warwick i'm afraid. Whilst the Spectors are very good - I think the German made Corvette has the upper hand on material. Quote
JoeS Posted September 22, 2007 Posted September 22, 2007
Warwick! The guy from Mastodon plays one
He does? I thought he was back on Fenders Warwick all the way for me, I have the swamp ash version of that bass and I've yet to play anything better. I preferred it to the Spector I tried as well, but that was a lower model (a Performer, I think). Quote

BigRedX Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 What I'd do is get yourself down to London and go to Sound Control (it's in Virgin Megastore on Oxford Street), then go to the shops on Denmark Street, after that The Bass Centre and finally The Bass Gallery. Sound Control should have a decent range of Spectors and the Bass Centre has a massive range of Warwicks. Spend the whole day and try out as many instruments as you can. Then and only then will you start to know what you want. Quote
charic Posted September 25, 2007 Author Posted September 25, 2007 Tried the warwicks, love the corvette! Havnt found the bass gallery yet only heard of it recently tbh and never seen sound contrl. Done denmark street tho! Quote

I've only ever seen him playing Fender or Godlyke. He was playing Fender at the VMAs as well, apparently. Quote

But I've never seen Troy play them - only ever the Fender/Heartfield basses and Godlyke basses. Neither is he on Warwick's site as an endorsee. Quote
