largo
As much as I'm happy with my Ashdown ABM 500 I'm still never completely happy. Some people call it GAS !!! So, anyone own, or used an Aguilar AG500SC amp and got opinions on it. How does it sound ? Would it match my Schroeder cab ? How might it compare to my Ashdown ? Cheers, Stephen. 6stringbassist
I had one a few years ago. I found that the EQ section was very limited, especially the mid section, there wasn't enough control at the correct frequencies. Others have found this too, I remember seeing a review in bassplayer magazine, and also I think I've seen the same thing said on talkbass. Bigwan
I have one but have limited live experience with it as my band split as it was in transit to me. All I can say is that the AG500SC is punchy and loud (in comparison to my Ashdown ABM), but IMO it doesn't do rock just as well as the Ashdown. Having both together is nice but totally not required. If I had to choose I'd say I'd keep the ABM... but I do have a sentimental attachment to it since I've had it so long. I wish I'd waited for the dual channel AG500, then it'd be a much closer call...
