farmer61
Need some help here. Can anyone think why it would appear that one of tyhe drivers in my 4 x 10 would be distorting on only one note 'A' played on the E. I'm assuming that it's on the way out, please tell me I'm wrong!!!!!! Depressed from Swindon!
witterth
Cheer up old son! its really not the end of the world, I've had that "resonance distortion" thing with some of my T/E cabs fairly recently.and with mine, anyway,as they were old, have been told it is evitable, that given time, some peices of kit do "pass away".... (sings: when I was a lad and old shep was a pup....ect) but to help you out/give solution; if it is only one driver thats blown they are'nt as dear as you'd think. another BCer put me in touch with PCS web site, for example or (even better) watford valves website ,I think it was, for proper Trace Elliot ,celestion, 10' drivers and so, the "proper" replacements. if like me you're rubbish with a soldering iron and totally unsure what to do when replacing stuff I'm sure it'll be a doddle for most good amp techs/doctors who would most likely charge a nominal fee for this kind of thing..A tenner maybe, while you wait? hope thats of some help dont worry/be depressed!! its easy to sort out...if youve a gig tonight ...eerr..thats another issue/BC thread ATB Edited September 19, 2009 by witterth
witterth
OH..the other thing by the way, have you tried knocking out(should I say cutting) some of the lower ends of your EQ? ( poss around 440?) that cured a similar problem with an open E, as I remember, for me. this had no detrimental effect to the overall sound as I only cut one slider try that as well Edited September 19, 2009 by witterth
