Steve_K
I wound up buying a S1000 Washburn Status with stripped down body and whatnot, and thought I would document the re-finish here to some extent atleast. Here it is in the state it arrived: Whole thing has been sanded further and painted black. About a month ago - The facing wood arrived today . 2 bookmatched pieces of vavona burr - my hand's a little shakey today, it's not this blurry in real life Today - Just taken it out of a press, lovely and flat veneer. I hope to get it attached to the body today, and some rough shaping. Photos to follow.

BigRedX
Love that facing wood... I have a bass that's going to need the same treatment, where did you get the facing from and how thick is it?
Bassmonster
Its does look nice, looking forward to seeing how it turns out
Steve_K
Facing was off eBay and it's only .6mm thick, so I won't need to remove any of the original front surface to allow truss rod access, etc. I'll try and get a photo of its current state up tomorrow, exams permitting. You don't happen to have a URL for the ebay vendor do you? Looking foward to more progress pics...
Steve_K
Username was cazand1230_16 I'm actually reconsidering it now that it's on the bass (go figure!)
BigRedX
Many thanks. There's a couple of items that might be suitable for me there... How are you going to glue these to the bass body?
Steve_K
Not meaning to be patronising... but, "with glue"
BigRedX
Doh! I supposed I asked for that.... What I meant was have you been recommended a particular type/brand or will what ever's available at the local DIY store do. Sorry for all the stupid questions, it's just that you seem to be doing almost exactly what I want to do with my bass (mine's also a Washburn - not a Status type though), so I'm hoping to tap some of your expertise... Just squash it between a couple of flat boards with some weighty objects on top?
Steve_K
I made it slightly wet first with some water on a big paintbrush, then between 2 pieces of MDF and set my rig ontop
BigRedX
Cool - sort of what I'd guessed although I wasn't sure about the dampening. Did you use yours in the end, you were unsure about the looks in your last update?
Steve_K
It's on, but not perfectly shaped or any finish applied yet. Still not sure about the wood, and I don't see any point progressing until I've decided :S
