As nice as the seafoam one does look... I can't help but think sterling ball is a HUGE hypocrite, preaching about how he's apparently moving the industry forward and can't stand all these people obsessed with vintage/retro gear. *ahem*.

Nice to see Ed Friedland making a comment as a Junior member.

The Cream one is a bit tasty.

In defence of SB he does say at the very beginning that he's not wholly supportive of the idea, so it's a bit odd to lambaste him.

Oh come on, that forum is nothing but yes-men that praise his every idea. Don't get me wrong, i love EBMM basses but it does get a bit sickening on there reading comment after comment kissing his arse. He's a good businessman, i'll give him that, but i'd be lying if thought that those vintage-styled basses weren't his idea.

Are they another one of these companies that seem to have the attitude of 'we don't do lefties because lefties don't buy our stuff', as so many?

I could be tempted by a lefty that looked like the maple / seafoam option, BUT it would have to be available in an all=passive option...... and ideal be routed so as it could accomodate a P Bass pup. :)

There are a few lefties on the EB forum, they are introducing them to different models gradually, but as you said, the market isn't that large. The introduced a lefty john petrucci model this year at NAMM i think.

That's a huuuuge neck pocket gap.

I like the colour combos though![/quote]

Pretty unacceptable neck pocket if you ask me!! or is that part of the "retro" vibe too :) haha

I like the vintage details - slab body, old bridge style with mutes and strings through body, classic logo. I read they're even considering going back to a metal battery cover on these. Nice touches. I absolutely love the Sea Foam Green too. I don't think I would buy one though, even if they came in a lefty version. I like the regular Stingray 4. If that will come in Sea Foam Green too, I'm sure it will sell better than this one.

I was thinking the very same thing, the first pic is shocking. Still, isn't there a problem with the buttons on the Big Al getting stuck too, perhaps 70's build quality is back in along with slab bodies.

So young and so cynical :)

I do agree totally on the arse licking tho, the main reason I don't go there.

Mutes, 2-band EQ, retro logo... awesome. :) I wonder if they'll sound like an older Ray though? The old ones sound so much nicer than the newer ones.

How about a 5-string in that style (ie, more like the 5-string SUB)?
