skankdelvar Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 (edited) Gasp - I've finally developed an interest in Stingrays. Lordy, but that cream and tort one's pretty. Edited September 24, 2009 by skankdelvar Quote
dub_junkie Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 one day we'll have a Sabre re-issue (hopefully) Quote
steve-soar Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 String through, 2 band eq, sunburst, retro? Oh, you mean like this? Sheepish about left handers? Do I look bothered? Quote
Musicman20 Posted September 24, 2009 Author Posted September 24, 2009 The neck pocket issue is probably because this is a prototype. Looks awesome. Quote
budget bassist Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 it's not REALLY that big a gap.... Quote

3below Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 Or is it just a matter of loosen the neck screws, tap the neck to close the gap and tighten screws again. Just like my 1970s precision which was badly setup from new. Without seeing the other side of the neck to see the fit we won't know. If they are letting basses out with poor setup its a shame. Quote

AndyTravis Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 I have a nice Stingray for sale...shameless plug. Quote

AndyTravis Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009
Neither have i, and i've sold hundreds. That is purely a proto muck up on the foam green. I've seen sunburst and natural photos and no gaps are evident. bh2 Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Neck pocket gap.. blahdy blah... you guys crack me up... really! When?, where?, how much? is all we need to know methinks. Quote
Kev Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 i think its very important, as said i don't want to be spending £1k+ on a bass with shoddy build quality, no matter what it sounds and plays like! But lets reserve judgment until a non-prototype pic emerges. Quote
nash Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 i hope they'll be built as well as the ray i once had. slab body as well. sweet Quote

Wil Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 I'm normally a fan of seafoam green, but I dont think it works on a 'ray personally... mind you, I tend to think the only acceptable 'ray colours are black or natural with black pickguards and maple boards. Quote
Lylodile Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009
Oh come on, that forum is nothing but yes-men that praise his every idea. Don't get me wrong, i love EBMM basses but it does get a bit sickening on there reading comment after comment kissing his arse. He's a good businessman, i'll give him that, but i'd be lying if thought that those vintage-styled basses weren't his idea.
+1 So true... On a lighter note however, these look cool. Don't really see the point though . Quote
stefboltonfc Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 I've only ever played a Musicman once, and although I thought it was quite comfortable to play, and sounded decent (though it was through a monstrous Mesa Boogie) - I just couldn't justify paying £1300 for it. I know Musicman basses are meant to be the Holy Grail of non-custom made guitars, but for one they're hideous, and for two, they seem massively overpriced for what they are. Ready to be shot down by the masses, but I just never "got" their appeal. Quote
lee650 Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Wow Stick a tort scratchplate on the seafoam green PHWOOOAAARR! im sure the build quality will be fine when these come out, my old sterling was amazing, but my next MM will be one of these (still wanting louis,s sound) a matching headstock would be cool too!! - lee Quote
