matski
Calling all Fenderphiles... Anyone out there an expert on the Fender JV Squiers? I recently retrieved an old one I had lent to a friend about 20 years ago - it is one of the Precision models with the big Fender logo and the smaller Squier Series logo - it was sunburst with gold anodized scratchplate, so it was the '57 vintage model, right? All I know about these is that they were produced in the early 80s - can anyone here shed any more light on these basses? How many produced etc.? I am curious... Guest
I had one of them, sold it not long after getting it, but it was nice enough, from the first month of production.

Have you got any pics of it? ps - replied to your enquiry on p-net btw! Nick
martthebass
Had one of these, from the first month of production. The JV 57 had a single ply white scratchplate originally and was in 2 tone sunburst. Single piece neck - maple, I think with skunkstripe. Mine was a lovely bass which I regret selling, only gripes I had with it was the neck width (a bit wide for me at 1.75" - but historically accurate) and the pup which was a bit weak. Unfortunately it is in a bit of a state - it was resprayed black and the neck has way more 'mojo' than I would like, so it has been handed over to a luthier for refinishing and general tidying up.
