iamapirate Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 hmm, my guitarist has one - says it's the only od/distortion he will ever buy. I'll give it a whirl at the next rehersal and might get back to you
TheButler Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 I'm the same as above. My guitarist loves hers, and literally won't use her other ones now. It does sound awesome on guitar, think I might have ti give it a go...
Mr. Foxen Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 (edited) Don't forget valve swapping possibilites, bit fiddly though. Am seeing if I can track down details of the bass mod some chap did. Edit: Also, the emulated output stops it upsetting bass cabs with tweeters. Edited September 27, 2009 by Mr. Foxen
joegarcia Posted September 28, 2009 Author Posted September 28, 2009 Also interested in other preamp pedals/di's in trade such as EBS/Aguilar. Maybe also other distortions or a Boss Re20. Pic to come.
Kev Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 thinking of letting my Tonefactor Hellbilly Fuzz/overdrive hybrid pedal go, one of only 150 made iirc, would there be any interest?
joegarcia Posted October 4, 2009 Author Posted October 4, 2009 Pretty sorted for fuzz and overdrive at the moment thanks Kev. Pretty curious what it's like though.. Price drop on the Blackstar.
Mr. Foxen Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 These can make your top end sound like this [the high squeals are bass]:
joegarcia Posted October 9, 2009 Author Posted October 9, 2009 Yea it can get pretty gnarly if you really push the second channel. It's pretty versatile though with lots of milder/mildly wild sounds available as well.
joegarcia Posted October 14, 2009 Author Posted October 14, 2009 Interested in trades for decent bass friendly mics too.
Kev Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 tempted to bump into you at sainsburys and nab that chorus off you...
joegarcia Posted October 14, 2009 Author Posted October 14, 2009 You should do, it's a great chorus :-) I can potentially do Thursday or Saturday afternoon by the way, just so you know.
vegas_hooker Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Hey Joe, Have you tried any guitar forums with the blackstar?
iamapirate Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 I've just tried out the blackstar in bonners thorough a trace elliot (hate em things, but the clean sounded ok). This thing is AMAZING! I don't have the money for one (too much self control saving for a mac). But for everyone else- get it! It sounds just like an OD should IMO. I've just sold my old ODB-3 and I think that this is miles ahead from it. The bass doesn't loose out at all, and you get from that lovely warm slight tube OD right up to a really heavy OD that is brinking on distortion? Anyway I love it!
joegarcia Posted October 15, 2009 Author Posted October 15, 2009 Thanks for the kind words, it is indeed a great pedal. I just don't need it as I seem to have valve amps coming out my ears at the moment (quite a nasty condition really). Haven't tried any guitar forums yet, wouldn't know where to start really. Off on tour next week, will just stick it on Ebay if it hasn't sold when I get back. They seem to consistently fetch about £120 on there.
