lozbass
I've been looking at these recently - some gorgeous designs and the build looks to beautifully executed. I'm a bit of a fan of Alembics and there are some clear similarities. The clarity of tone that is a characteristic of the latter appears to be present with the Unicorns
Stockholm Syndrome
Yeah, I have spec'd mine to be a bit dirtier sounding.

His attention to detail is second to none where most luthiers probably would compromise. I rank him as one of the top luthiers in the world, no wonder that his basses are gaining ground both in Sweden and in the rest of te world. I'm honoured to have him build build me my dream bass - and I will proudly play it on stage.
Stockholm Syndrome
Spec update. Due to having problems with Wenge shrinking, causing unwanted stability issues - we've decided to go with purpleheart laminations in the neck instead. (Spelling edit, WTF is wrong with me tonight? ) Edited October 12, 2009 by Stockholm Syndrome

Stockholm Syndrome
On a serious note though, Christian's basses tend to be very light yet produce a big tone.

lowdown
The Unicorn site looks great.. [and you Bass sounds like it is going to be a stunner] but... Tomten är inte i engelsk! So it is a bit of hard work for us that are not Swedish chef's. Yeerrr guuoorsh heeer, deeuuum, dedeeshka duu. Ieeebur deroor iehroom, Bork Bork Bork! Stockholm Syndrome
Wow guys, sorry for not replying, the email notification seems to not be working. Thanks for the kind words. Oh and for the record (as a Swede) I think Swedish Chef is saying "bort bort bort" because he is throwing whatever he's got in his hands at the end of the theme. Bort means "away" in Swedish I just got word that the neck is being glued as we speak! "Tomten är inte i engelsk" should be "Tomten är inte engelsk" (Santa is not English). Otherwise it would mean "Santa is not in English". Edited October 27, 2009 by Stockholm Syndrome

Stockholm Syndrome
Here is a mockup: I'm still thinking about whether I should have the upper body cutaway for the right arm or not, right now I'm leaning towards not. I'm working with the luthier on something different. I also think the koa top will have a bit more reddish/amber tone rather than brown. Stockholm Syndrome
And without cutaway:
Toasted
Much better without, if you can deal with the discomfort, IMO.

I don't have them on my current basses so I don't have anything to miss.
