Guys and gals,

I need (pronto) music or tab for Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick! Any ideas where I can find on line?

Thanks
BV

Spelling changed.....I feel the pain!

Not the TAB but Norm playing the bass line solo, which might help with learning the part.

From memory I thinks it's tuned up half a step on the recorded version.

This is the best close up i've seen of the bassline being played, good luck i'm still trying to nail it myself.

I've tabbed some of it out but only by hand sorry, if theres any parts in particular you need tab for I'll try but I ain't no Watt Roy!

Blimey, first "proper" bassline I learned nearly 30 years ago - no tabs then! As I remember it was much easier to play than it sounded/looked as almost all the notes are doubled. Top bass-line, top group.

heres my rendition: a bit rough round the edges but there you go!

Just ran this through some good sound so I could hear it better. Top job and well done.

I gigged with the guy who played that line a couple of weeks ago - Norman Watt-Roy. He's AMAZING. Thoroughly nice bloke too, we bass-geeked out and talked amps for a bit. He's touring with Wilko Johnson, well worth a look if you get the chance.

Cool Mike! I try and get to any Wilko gigs I can.

Also The Blockheads are touring with Phill Jupitus doing some of the vocals up to the end of the year.
There is an awesome article in this months sound on sound about the recording of that album.

Interesting read to say the least

What issue is it in? I had a quick look in Smiths yesterday but SOS didn't seem have that article in it.

After reading the OP i decided to try and learn this song (i just remember it first time round).... Wow, it's a bit of a workout. I find the 16ths not to be too difficult, but the first and last beat of the each bar, trying to get the rhythm right. Been at it for two days now and it's gettin there. :)

I don't think anyone's mentioned it, but I'm sure I recall that it was played it in E and the track was varispeeded to F (or maybe the bass was tuned up a semitone). Its certainly seems a lot easier to play in E.
