Mr Bassman
I play mainly upright nowadays, but I take a bass guitar along just in case. Just in case I have to play something that is more suited to a fretted bass, & just in case I have an accident with the upright. Well last December I knocked the bridge on a door frame going into a venue. I got the bass out of it's gig bag and checked it, it had moved about 1/4", I reset it and did the gig. At the next gig I was warming up playing some Christmas carols when there was this huge bang! The bridge snapped in two! Luckily I had my trusty old jazz bass with me and could do the gig. Shaggy
Could have been worse - could have found some bullet holes a la "Some like it Hot!"
nedsbeds
When I was in my youth orchestra (I play viola as well as bass) the crappy violins that people had, would quite often go bang hehe. Usually just bridges falling over but once or twice a bridge snapped in half. Made me jump every time. They don't really like being knocked around hehe
