Doc B
Inspired by Clarky's In Praise of.. thread: I was wondering about songs by bands you don't like or even songs that you don't like but that have basslines that you think are great. She Don't Love Me Like you by Magic Numbers is one example for me. I really don't like the band or even the song but I really enjoy that bassline. MOP's Cold as Ice is another (although that is no doubt a sample or synth). I also don't like the Smiths (Morrissey's voice just grates) but Andy Rourke is brilliant, almost enough for me to consider getting some of their music. steve
Quite a lot of Abba songs have really nice basslines, but the rest of the music :pukey smiley:
burno70
When the going gets tough by Billy Ocean - song sucks but great bass line.
chris_b
Many Motown albums were full of fillers. Great playing but not so great song writing!
Rayman
Red Hot Chilli Peppers for me. I actually love the rhythm section (Flea & Chad), but I can't stomach Anthony Kiedis's vocals and I'm not keen on John Frusciante's sound either. Bilbo
Most of James Jamerson's work. Great lines, beautifully executed and then surrounded by bubblegum sung by 12 year-olds, tuneless whelps and trashy girlbands.
Adrenochrome
A couple of songs by Moloko have good basslines but are average songs eg 'Familiar Feeling'.

bluesparky
The ultimate for this is "i don't know how to love him" by Yvonne Elliman, a serious guilty pleasure!!!!!
Zombywoof
Footloose - Kenny Log-in, has a fantastic bassline in it but I can't stand the song. Wake me up before you go-go by Wham is another one.
