skankdelvar Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 Set up, wander round talking to bar staff, soundman, promoter, landlord etc. Nod politely at arriving punters (who usually scurry nervously off into a corner). Not really a ritual, just kind of a way to 'own the room' - and relax. 5 mins pre, nip outside for a crafty cigarette. Go back in, go on. Quote
TheButler Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 Well, i'm pretty much alike the rest. The big difference for me is remembering to take medication for my back (nerves). If i don't do that i'll have a compulsary need to pee for the whole set and the run up to it, even during soundchecks and general lounging. I can't drink anything before hand, bar water and i can't really get myself in the zone unless the place has a nice atmosphere. Usually though, being Edinburgh, nowhere really does. Quote
stingrayfan Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 Lug PA from car, try to get everything set up quickly to allow time to sit down and slug down a bottle of beer before starting! Guitarist always needs a slash, drummer always late because he's getting six pints of water. Quote
