AndyTravis
Hi folks, i need opinions. I'm thinking of Refinishing my 2003 Marcus Miller. It was in the 'for sale' thread, but i had a change of heart. I really fancy the idea of a Lake Placid Blue paintjob, i have a Telecaster reissue in LPB and i love it. I'm aware that this probably means i'll never be able to flog it as it's a personal thing, but i like the idea of having an individual Miller. It's currently natural...so, can anyone knock up a photoshop of my idea? Whaddya think?
machinehead
You only pass this way once. If you know you'll love it, just go for it. If you want to sell then yes, you'll have a smaller market but someone, somewhere will buy it eventually. Sounds like you won't be selling though.... Toasted
Also, one thing to consider: A £600 bass + a £300 refin does not necessarily end up being a £900 bass. It normally stays a £600 bass.
AndyTravis
yeah, i dont think i'd be selling anyhow...worth thinking though eh.
Buzz
Why did you want to sell it in the first place? If you weren't happy with some other aspect like the neck a paint job isn't going to fix it.
Rumple
[attachment=33865:Fender_Marcus_LPB.jpg] Not perfect but I hope it will help you get an idea of what it would look like. R.

You most likely won't get your hypothetical 300 back but you should return more than book price if offered to the right market because of it's uniqueness and desirability... this obviously excludes vintage and rare guitars which are in a pricing league of their own. My '72 LP has a mark on it where the previous owner decided to add a thumb rest. I suppose at the time in the 70's they didnt really think "hmmm, I wonder if this will devalue my instrument on the vintage market in 30 years time?" I have thought about refin'ing my LP as well. I think it would like pure SEX in a wine red, but I dont think its a good idea with a vintage instrument..... think it would look the DOGS BOLLOX tho if I did do it.
