G-bitch
Doesn't sound like a very good price to me - it seems that 'Trace Elliot' + 'Valve' is making sellers think they can charge a fortune. It's a nice little amp but not for that money IMO (maybe if it was the quatra/hexa valve version with more power), stick with the GK! Musky
The 1x15 combo version of this sold on the 'bay for £300 the other day, so £350 is definitely over the top.
Hiperi0n
thanx a lot guys..that was i was thinking also... anyway if someone should find an hexa or a quatra for around that price..make me a call
andy67
afternoon folks have to completely disagree with comments made here £350 for a quality valve amp is good value! As an owner and user of a Trace Elliot V4 these amps are phenomenal...monsters...the twin, hexa and quatra are older but really good amps and reliable and as well as sustaining their price tag will actually appreciate in time! I have used the v4, v6 and v8 of this range and find them all incredible amps surpassed by nothing! the sheer power of my V4 at 220 watt to the 300/400 watt v6 and the mighty and awsome v8 is staggering not even the mighty ampeg cl comes close! if any of these become available get them quick! you will have seen my up for sale potentially but as of now no chance! I would hate to lose mine! Edited September 28, 2007 by andy67
Sugden
Quality valve amp or not these things go for about £250. They are nice and sound damn good but if i paid £350 for one then saw another go for the normal £250 I'd be abit gutted.

Shaggy
Recently bought of these on the forum as a back-up amp (£275 – a bit scruffy exterior but working fine and recently serviced). With these amps becoming vintage and rare, what it’s worth becomes less about “book price” and more about how much you want it – I reckon you’d be lucky to find one at all let alone at £250. It’s got much more of a modern “hi-fi” tone than say, my old Bassman,, at the time I don’t think TE were out to create any kind of retro product but a really clean top-end amp. I bought it as a back-up, but my passive fretless basses sound so wonderful and buttery through it I use it all the time for fretless, whereas my Music Man for some reason sounds better through my all-digital Yamaha BT-500H amp, maybe because it’s active. I’d love one of the four or hex valve versions, but to be honest for the gigs I play this has plenty enough grunt. andy67
100% agree shaggy! funnily enough my active trb5 does not like my trace V4 valve head! play passive all the time now........I wonder why?
Wil
I was very tempted by the one Shockwave was selling, just didn't think it would be loud enough to cut through my drummer. If it had been though, or if I was in a quieter band, I wouldn't hesitate to pay £300-£350 for one.

andy67
different situation withs valves add more cabs bigger sounds! seriously my 220 watt V4 is never cranked above 40% and it cuts through anything!
Hiperi0n
Yeah you are right..but my consideration is maybe to wait and wait for a v4 or a Quatra that have at least 200 watts and the price should be not so much higher...anyway i really appreciate your help...maybe i try to contact the seller and see if he can lower the price a bit

Our drummer regularly breaks 4 + sticks a gig he's that physical and the Trace twin copes without breaking a sweat - hooked up to 600W RMS worth of cab. I'm seriously thinking about getting another and bi-amping my stereo Ovation Magnum!
rodl2005
I recently came across a Trace V4 2x10" combo!!!! What are these like? it looked brand new!!!!
andy67
never seen one rod nor knew trace did a v4 210 combo...only the 115 v4 combo I'm familiar with....anyhooos it is a v4 head and will be fantastic! adding a 115 cab will be killer! the V series are just monsters! take it from an experienced user! I currently have a loan of a V6, it is not so different from my v4, just marginally louder but does the 2ohm thing that I require to drive my 2 x ampeg b410hlf cabs and it is amazing as well...so is the v8....ffs just get it if you can afford it! or tell me where it is so i can get it!
