HarryPotter
Hi Guys, Got me a Cort Curbow 4. I tried a few and they played nicely, bought one of the web (instead of paying the extra and getting one that played fine) and it's not all it could be. It's buzz heaven, so I need to get it sortd as it's driving me nuts. Any tips? The action isn't too low (I don't think it's low enough anyway). I have set plenty of guitars up, but am new to bass so thought it best to ask first. TIA.
The Burpster
1. check the strings are good, and probably replace. 2. with new strings check the relief (at 6th fret, capo'd at 1 and held down at 12) should be .25 -.5mm 3. set string hieght (capo'd 1st fret measured at 13th) should be 2-3mm depending on preferance/styke. and ensuring fret board radius is maintained in teh saddles. 4. set intonation. 5. last tweak to raise any buzzy strings (should require no more that 1/2 turn on any saddle screw) 6. check PUP height (if you want or need to) 7.PLF (play like f@@k) enjoy. chris_b
All of the above..... but I'd replace the strings after any work. If you still get lots of buzz the frets might not be even and you'll need to get them stoned to level them out As this is an expensive job for a "cheapish" bass, can you live with a higher action? Good luck.
