GreeneKing Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 I'm down to 6 basses which is a near miracle. There's been some comings and going over the past week or two but I feel like this could be it for the foreseeable future (he said). 1st is my ACG pair, well not quite an ACG pair but my ACG Harlot with the ACG01 pre-amp and my Warmoth Darkstar with the ACG02 pre-amp. The Harlot is a very special custom bass. The Warmoth is shod with Pyramid Gold flats that are an 'old school' revelation. Next a pair of Spectors. These are my main playing basses at the moment while I work towards being totally at home with 5 strings. 17mm at the bridge and 35" scale. The redwood (water cured doncha know) one is a US NS-5XL with a U-Retro and the white one is a special order Euro 5 LX with the $500 upgraded 9v 2EQ Ppre-amp of old. and for those among you who find white stilettos and too much gold jewellery somehow attractive (well I am an Essex boy): Finally Fenders, a Marcus Miller IV with a Sadowsky 2EQ pre-amp and an American Vintage 62 re-issue P bass that surprised me so much I had to buy it. and just for completeness, stringed things: I'm a lucky bunny Peter Quote
Beedster Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 The Warmoth looks lovely and the '62 P is a classic. Nice collection mate Chris Quote
birdy Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Yes great collection!! I love the Fenders and Spectors especially!! Steve Quote
Cat Burrito Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 And that's without the amps! I'm liking the 62P bass and curious about the mandolin. What is it? Quote
GreeneKing Posted October 6, 2009 Author Posted October 6, 2009 It's a Chinese made Eastman, Chinese but not a cheapie. It's a beautiful thing. Quote
EBS_freak Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 I never appreciated the lines on the back of your ACG... what with the choice of wood and their colours, the contours... well... very nice! I actually really like your white Spector... hmm... Quote
davidmpires Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 I want to ghet my hands on that whitey and the water cured one. Greenking if you don't mind me asking why did you change the the original Aguilar preamp on that one and how much it cost you the bass not the preamp? Quote

I like a slightly mid heavy tone and find the bass and treble cut and boost something I tend to keep flat. I traded a mint Rickenbacker 4001 Chris Squire for the NS5, so we're talking at least £2k. OutToPlayJazz Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Ah my two favourites in your collection - The AV Precision & that lovely Spector ltd edition. Fantastic basses, Peter. How's the Euro panning out? Quote
GreeneKing Posted October 6, 2009 Author Posted October 6, 2009 Well Rich, early signs are that tone wise it's not a million miles away from the NS. A bit lighter which has to be a good thing too. It's only when you have an NS and a Euro that you realise what the extra dosh gets you imo. Both great basses but the quality of the NS oozes out and puts the very good Euro firmly in it's place. Stingray5 Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Mmm, that's some classy bass porn you have there. Which one would you pick as your 'desert island bass'? Quote
Sean Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 (edited) Well, I was going to say, what a lovely pair of Spector five bangers, blah blah, Spectors, Spectors, blah, blah, EMG, Spectors... but that Warmoth P is absolutely stunning, Peter, it's stopped me in my tracks! niceguyhomer Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Lovely basses Pedro, it's interesting how you've paired them up for the pics. I'll be up soon for a dabble Quote

Another Jazz on its way in, which should be interesting once it's sorted out. Love the Spectors mate, superb. Of course the water cured one is a stunner, but I'm looking forward to a go on the white one too. Quote
