pepone2401
FENDER JAZZ BASS 1968 / SUNBURST / White Blocks Inlay / "THE LEGEND BASS" or The bass who lived It has lots of digs and it's really as worn out as it must be, and the sound makes cry of happiness. When you talk about of a typical Fender Jazz Bass tone, you can take this one as an example of it. Before I bougth it it has had a single owner since 1970 when it was bougth in a small French town. The guy din't care of it and it was left abandoned in the cellar for more than 10 years . This is difficult to understand to me as I'm a nostalgic person, but thanks to that I had the chance to get it. I think that this bass isn't the kind of instrumet to get rid of, as you might came across never again. Step by Step, I've managed to buy all the missing parts of it (Fender harshell case, Bridge and neck pickup covers and the thumrest too... all those pieces from 1968). I went to Porrentruy City in the Jura Swiss Canton to fetch the bass.. It was a snowy sunday... The trip was something like a Honeymoon... lol Please have a look to the pictures "before and after" ALL THE PICTURES ON THIS LINK: http://gs107.photobucket.com/groups/m303/E...CKWQ/?start=all http://gs95.photobucket.com/groups/l147/DC...nt=HPIM1960.jpg Edited October 7, 2009 by pepone2401
Clarky
Phew! In my opinion, nicer (even) than your 1965 Precision as it looks like it has been played and enjoyed. You have one hell of a bass collection!

Musicman20
Lovely bass! Now...I hope when Im a little older I can get down to some hunting for a vintage P and vintage J. I have what I class as the some of the best of the modern Fenders, now I need the old school.

james
Very true Fender did not throw anthing away and so you will find pots from early years on later Basses. One of my 74 Jazz Bass is all but a 73 apart from the fact the thumb rest is on top of the e string, a move they did not do until early 74.( I know i will get my coat )
May be possible.... but... as you must know, it's realy dificult to date a Fender Bass for sure... Especially during the first 15 years of production... Those stams and marks were only the way to know and when a particular piece had been made and who had made it... Something like a quality check rather than dating the whole instrument... Edited October 12, 2009 by pepone2401
