the series one stuff is terrible. why would anyone make a 200 watt valve guitar amp?

also do you me mott as in mott the hoople?

when i saw them he was using an SVT 2 clean as a whistle and he use the blackstar 30 watters for his baritone
Why not. I wouldn't say no to 200w of valve amp.

Yes, Mott as in Mott the Hoople. I guess you saw them at the Monmouth warm-up gigs. By the time they got to Hammersmith, I couldn't see any Ampeg gear. OW appeared to be using the Blackstar separates. Couldn't tell if he or Verden Allen was using the adjacent twin Ashdown stacks. VA also had twin Leslies. All 3 basses sounded really driven.

yea caught them in mon.

when i saw them the back line was

MR had 2 marshall jtm 30 watt heads into 4 4x12
IH had a small fender combo
OW had svt 2 with one spare and an 8x10 and two lots of blackstar artisan 30 head with a 4x12
VA just had the 1 leslie stack

they sounded sweet. i think all i heard of the bass was a di of the TB. boomy

if i was playing guitar i'd say no to 200watts.

One of my favourite bands, Cave-In, use a P Bass/Grabber (I think, im not too hot on Gibson basses) with a Sunn:

Not sure if they still do, (not sure if they are still together!) Some Marshall Bass amps on those live UK vids.

Basically, I want to play in a dirty heavy rock band with hardcore influences...lots of bass runs and cranked tubes. Guitaist would not be allowed any of this ESP stuff...
Still together; http://planetsofold.com/

Caleb doesnt drive his amps too hard that I could always tell. He uses a fulltone fulldrive with an ODB3 for the growly tone.

+1....I had a 60W tune Fender amp and basically unless you were playing super super loud, it was unnecessary. I much prefer lower wattage guitar amps so you get them to their sweet spot easier.
Probably won't make it to the bash!

I am planning to go to the Matamp factory though on Thursday. I might feel my empty wallet cry just a little bit :)
Im avoiding that place until I have £1500 saved up.

Then im off to ask them to make the coolest looking amp ever....simple as that. Has to be ridiculous, dirty, and full of awesome tone

I'm speechless.

The ported 4x10 I tried at Matamp last week with the GT200 was good, but really woofy and boomy with what I was trying to do.

So I went back today and tried it through a sealed 4x10 Jeff had just built. It was better, but still not what I was looking for.

Then we whipped out my Schroeder 1212L. It wasn't as loud as one of the Matamp 4x10s (on the lowest drive setting, we had the master volume on full and it would have been almost acceptable as a clean sounding practice amp), but OH MY DEAR LORD. The sound was incredible. When we turned the drive up a notch or two and messed with the EQ, we got tight, focused, mid heavy valve grind which cleans up when you back off your attack or volume... And it wasn't too loud to rehearse or gig with!

I could have almost have been listening to the original bassist from Glassjaw when I heard what sound I was making. Turned to my friend who'd come with me, also a Glassjaw fan, and he just smiled. A lot. Absolutely nailed that EYEWTKAS tone dead.

I NEED that head

Me and Stu also dubbed the Matamp factory the Matcave while we were there, after seeing the personalised numberplate MA7 4MP on the van outside, and deciding that it was definitely the Matmobile :)
