wateroftyne
Hi all Just listening to Warren Zevon's Excitable Boy. Bob's playing some GREAT bass on there. The demo of Werewolves of London is fab. What a tone, what a feel! I saw him on the telly with CS&N at Glastonbury, and he was awsome then too. Any other recomendations for a dose of BG on bass? Mickeyboro
Heard Jackson Browne Running On Empty on he radio a couple of nights ago - thanks Simon Mayo - think BG was on that. On a tangent, Zevon was the only musician I ever interviewed who turned out to be a total sh&%. Decided there and then I wouldn't let my personal opinion of a musician get in the way of enjoying the music. That man had good taste in bass players but a giant chip on both shoulders - 'Why did everyone else make it and I didn't'? Oh, and don't read his book, that's even sadder...rant over, back to Bob Glaub!
wateroftyne
You interviewed WZ? How terribly cool (or maybe not!). Telephone, or face-to-face?
Stingray5
Jackson Brown's excellent album 'The Pretender'. 'Hold Out' is worth checking too.

Mickeyboro
You interviewed WZ? How terribly cool (or maybe not!). Telephone, or face-to-face?
In person. I also made the mistake of bringing Barney Hoskyns book 'Waiting For The Sun' (story of LA music) to read on the train. He saw it, grabbed it and started foaming at the mouth about how wrong it all was, jabbing his finger at specific pages! However the previous night I got to see him play on Jools Holland where he met (and I saw) Joe Strummer for the first time. So thanks, Warren, for that. Never meet your heroes! Now, with apologies, back to Bob Glaub...
skankdelvar
There was a time when it seemed like everything I listened to was him or Leland Sklar. Great feel, beautiful tone, brilliantly song-supportive.
+1 Warren was one of my heros for such a long, long time and then i read the book The man treated those who loved him so badly and even though i realise he was obviously mentally ill for most of his life, reading about his dirty life and times has tainted my opinion of him. Still think that he was a genius though.
ezbass
Jackson Brown's excellent album 'The Pretender'.
The Pretender is a bass player's list of super stars, not only Glaub, but Sklar and Rainey too.
