timloudon
Either Music Guard or join the MU and use their free £2000 free of insurance! With the second option, you can get extra on top of that, so you get a very low premium.

iamapirate
As long as you don't get paid (i.e. non-commercial/professional use), most contents things cover it, don't they?

Alot of my stuff isn't covered due to the individual value. It was just easier to get stuff through a specialist musical instrument insurer - and they are very reasonable. xgsjx
If you have personal belongings cover on your home insurance, it will cover your gear as long as it isn't for professional use. Some insurance companies let you specify dearer items or increase how much cover you need & is often worldwide cover against theft, damage & loss. Downside is that if you have to claim, it will affect your home insurance & make it dearer the following year. My gear is all covered under my home insurance.
