fusionbassist1
As i'm sure it's been said in this thread already, for almost £1000 you could get an incredibly nice piece of second hand bass porn from the sales section of this forum. You might be lucky to get a nice P bass that has a bit of history behind it. Keep in mind the re-sale issues with trying to get rid of a Fender that you bought new, you'll be losing half that £900 straight away when selling it second hand. We all like to think we're going to hold hands with our prized bass for ever and ever whilst walking into the sunset but it usually doesn't work like that unfortunately; due to the powers of GAS. OldGit
the new fenders are a return to form and a better investment man... they feels really classic again. nice vintage logo too.
A better invertment than they were a few years ago? True. A better investment than a used Fender? Well probably not in sheer financial terms simply because of the "showroom door" effect mentioned above. A used 09 with all the QC and kit upgrades would be a good deal but certainly not an old stock S1.....
Low End Bee
I got my 2007 S1 last September for £640 brand new. It's a very nice one. Well once I binned the white scratchplate for a black one The S1 switch is totally useless. It just cuts the volume and takes out all the grunt. It will go in the redundant parts box once I get around to fitting the Wizard thumper I bought ages ago.
