Hi chaps / chapettes,

A good friend of mine is looking like he's going to sell his Jaydee SMK - I can honestly say ive never seen one for sale on here (maybe i missed one once?) - what sort of cash should he be looking for? Ive tried to put him off flogging it to a specialist shop as i imagine they will rip him for the dosh... or sell it for him with a phat lump of "commission" tacked on.

Cheers peeps

(oh and of course, if anyone wants it themselves, drop me a PM and ill try to put you in contact with him... he's in Norfolk. Ive played the bass myself when i used to teach him many years ago and it was in pristine nick last time I saw it, very very nice instrument indeed)

Allo!

JD pricing - really depends on a number of factors - the larger bodied Series I models will normally attract a bit more to JD buffs but again, prices can vary depending on what day it is!!! The cost of a new model (Series III) is I think around £1400 but you then have to factor in a very long wait due to the fact that John currently has over 40 orders! A Series II or III bodied Mark King model could go from around £700 upwards - condition of course also having an impact. Special features such as exotic neck inlays would push the price up - a Saturn inlaid Series II went for £1200 on Ebay earlier this year.

If you can get hold of some pics that would certainly help. Norfolk - not too far away from me.....must try to resist!

Cheers

Nick

Ok - some further information from the man himself (via his wife, lol)

It is a Supernatural Mark King Classic Series I (dot inlays). but I dont know the year! if you go on http://www.jaydeecustomguitars.co.uk/mark-king-1.jpg, the one on the right is my exact one... well... except I own it not Mark King (!) and except for the dot inlays are slightly different and the hardware on mine is silver not gold (the pic is off the website about Jaydee's and the two guitars are the only two that Mark King still has in his posession). Hope this helps?

Whats a ball park figure for this then Jaydee experts? This isnt for sale (yet) but when it is ill get him to post it on here in the For Sale forum with some piccies. Im told its in pretty much the same nick I saw it in last time, ie. very good.
