A simple question really; what is roughly the general rule for resale value on cabs/amps? (Used gear price = ??% of new gear price)
Just useful to know roughly when scouring the web for potential gear
there isnt a formula really. just see if there are any of what you want on ebay completed listings and work it out from there.
Yeah, I wasn't under the illusion there was a definitive theory, just a general kind of unwritten code. From what I've seen and what I morally think is a fair price, it seems to be around 60% of new price?

The questions are :
How old?
What condition?
Wear and tear?
How much are they new?
Are they common?
How much does he want?
What's everyone else charging?
How much will you pay?
How badly do you want it?

Possibly. It massively depends on specifically what you're talking about though. If the market is flooded with what you're trying to sell (or buy) then you may only see 40% of the RRP, but if it's a relatively new product then you may see as much as 80%. If you're talking about vintage or discontinued/rare gear then you may even see a return of anything from 100% to 500%+. It really does depend on what it is you're selling and the condition it's in.

the biggest factor is, is it in fashion

take for example the big muffs. the black russian goes for more used than the US pi even though the US pi cost more new
