Mr Bassman
www.myspace.com/theburdenofparadise This project sees acclaimed saxophonist Snake Davis teaming up with singer Helen Watson. Helen has a unique style and strong distinctive voice, crossing the boundaries between jazz, blues, soul and folk. The two first worked together many years ago when Snake played on Helen’s Blue Slipper album, which also featured Albert Lee and members of Little Feat. This project, now in its fourth year, includes Dave Bowie and Mark Creswell from The Suspicions. With no drummer in the line-up this is an acoustic show – great songs, with poignancy, passion and fun. With Snake Davis on sax and flute, Helen Watson on vocals, Dave Bowie on double bass, and Mark Creswell on guitar. www.jazzinyorkshire.co.uk
jakenewmanbass
Helen is great, I played on a few tracks on one of her albums about ten years ago. I've also gigged with Chris (snake) a few times.
yorks5stringer
I got a very late invitation to this gig, and rolled up without knowing what to expect. What a great line up, all excellent musos, both sets seemed to be over in minutes they were so enjoyable. As you'd expect, my eyes were fixed on Dave Bowie all night ( in a good way!) I think they are in Louth tonight
