"Lady in Red" by Chris De Burgh.

Again, another classic Pino Line. Really complements the vocal and the song just wouldn't be the same without it.

Here's one for the ageing Goth's amongst you :brow:

"Celebrate" by Fields Of The Nephilim. All you get is bass and vocals. Easy to play too :)

And for the Metal Hedz.......Does "The Thing That Should Not Be" by Metallica qualify as slow?? Uber heavy riff, intro sounds cool on bass

midnight love affair by George Benson.

Its a classic. Either Louis Johnson or Abe Laboriel

Edit : Its Abe

No it's not.  It's 100% Louis Johnson.

As it is on "What's On Your Mind", also by George Benson.  For some reason, especially since the tragic passing of Louis Johnson, his name is either being replaced or removed completely from playing credits online, so watch out.  If you know Louis' style and tone, you'll know when it's him.

A decade-spanning thread dredge! Bravo.

I know what you mean, but I just watched a video of keyboard player Greg Phillinganes saying that he didn't need bass players anymore now that he has the Trilian Total Bass Module.  Of course he's joking (isn't he?).  So I noticed this thread while looking for a link to reply to Greg.  Then I realised that Greg's video isn't accepting replies.  If you're interested, Greg makes these claims (jokes?) at 6:34 in this video:

LA first call session player, Neil Stubenhause's comment was, "That's just Greg being Greg". So I guess GP was just having fun.

After the "synth taking over" nonsense in the 80's, I don't think anyone will put bass players out of business. The sound of a well played bass guitar is too powerful to ignore.

Sadly, the same also applies to the sound of a poorly played bass guitar.
