Pete Academy Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 I heard Meshell has a new album out, so I went on Amazon.com, where you can have a listen to a bit of each track before buying. OK, so I know it's only about 30 seconds each but I was totally uninspired. Does anyone else wish she'd get back to the funk of 'Plantation Lullabies'? Quote
Rayman Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 It's funny, I've been a bit uninspired by her latest stuff too. BIG fan of her sound and style, how long ago was "The Way" released? It's still my favourite tune, but a fair bit of her other stuff doesn't do it for me. Quote
Kiwi Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 Personally I do, but Meshell is on a journey... If you've ever listened to Roy Ayers, you'll see where Meshell got a lot of her inspiration for the first two albums. Quote
bubinga5 Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 Meshell is making music for herself not her listeners... i personally think Peace Beyond Passion is her finest hour.. she certainly doesnt get stuck in any one genre...i think people expect to hear the funky stuff from her, but shes much more than that..her latest album takes a few listens.. Zombywoof Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 We want the funk, gotta have that funk ahhhhh WE need the funk, give up the funk Quote
Owen Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 To be fair (and I am a long time fan) her funk is actually DA BOMB! However, I totally respect her need for personal development and enjoy most of what she has done - but not as much as her funk. Did I mention that it is DA BOMB? Quote
Zombywoof Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 I want DA BOMB, I want the P-Funk, I wants my funk uncut.. Quote
Hamster Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 I've got Devil's Halo - I must say I was a litle disappointed too. Quote
