TimR
How, if at all, do different grills affect the sound of the speaker? Does a cloth cover have any advantage over a grill with holes? What about circular or square holes? Large or small holes? In the case of a grill is there a point at which the hole to material ratio affects the sound? alexclaber
The most important thing is to have enough open area in the grill but most cabs have that. More common acoustic issues seen in bass cabs are grills over undersized ports which causes nasty air noise problems, and badges in front of tweeters or midrange speakers (a heinous crime!)
