Musicman20
Yep, its got the new case and the new vintage bridge and all that stuff goin' on, diff tuners... Im looking at sunburst with a tort pickguard 'cos James Jamerson's one just looks the absolute business. I dig your white ones though, that would be my second colour choice with the tort p'guard (already have a white...umm...actually maybe "nicotine yellow" aged Ric so fancy summat with a different colour). I like the idea of a P as well as all my other basses are kinda, well, not the norm (I dont think of Rics as "normal" hehe) and I need a versatile weapon in case i try a different band / style of music out.
Yep...another good colour choice! OutToPlayJazz
I used to have one of those. Nice bass. Mine was the 3TS with maple fingerboard. Only reason I sold was that I don't like the Precision sound, so I got the Jazz in the same colour scheme instead. Excellent choice, Sir! The new 3TS is very red/crimson based so it looks fabulous in certain lights as well. The main thing I love apart from the new bits on the latest MIA basses is the glossed lacquer maple fingerboard and the satin lacquered neck. No more of that cheap and nasty feeling bare wood. This is how it should be done! Edited November 10, 2009 by OutToPlayJazz
Stag
Mmm, very nice OTPJ! Im wondering, do I want a maple or rosewood fretboard? I get on with rosewood, but suppose it would do me in good stead to try maple as well. Any major differences?
OutToPlayJazz
From personal experience, I'd say the new maple board models are a little brighter and more percussive. Not much in it though, to be honest.
Stag
It seems that for the mentioned figure of £849 in addition to the case you get a Fender lead, strap, polish cloth, all very nice stuff. very very tempted.
farmer61
I think so, to 2 I have are excellent, I particularly like the S1 switching Jazz that I bought earlier in the year.

The black side-dots on the maple board instruments are much easier for me to see. YMMV

My Japanese blue-flower Tele bass always gets a few laughs ... till they pick it up.

Much easier with the maple.
Stag
Well, the shop im going to be buying it from next week is getting a maple one AND a rosewood one in for me specially (they only had one MIA PBass in stock and it was a rosewood one in the wrong colour) so I can try both out. Stag
Well, I tried both and liked the rosewood one a lot more. Seemed to have a much bigger and louder sound? Odd. Anyway I BOUGHT IT LOL and its now behind me in its case looking very very pretty indeed. Im sure ill get it in Gear Porn soon! I am extremely, extremely impressed with it. Given that ive tried quite a number of P's now, and quite a lot of them 70's ones, I have to say this is actually better than the majority ive played. Its the right weight, the right look, the right everything. All the case candy you get with it just seals the deal really! IMO its a much better use of my money than a 70's P would be.... particularly if the 70's P in question may not be entirely kosher (unless bought from a lovely fellow BC'er of course! - not even a dealer is going to know a bass's entire history). If anyone else is thinking about it, I would say GO TRY THEM and then, well, you might end up walking out with one like I did.
