StevieD_FenderP2009
Hi Basically, I've been looking at some really old Fender Precision Basses and I've noticed alot of them had grounding plates under the pickups so I was just wondering: 1: What they are there for? 2: What are they made from? 3: Will it improve the tone of my P Bass (fitted with Seymour Duncan SPB-3) 4: Will it still work even though I've got cavity shielding on my P Bass? 5: How do you wire it in? 6: Where can I get one? 7: Will I still need to wire a ground to the bridge if I fit one of these ground plates? Cheers guys Stevie.D

It serves the same purpose as copper foil or shielding paint in a "modern" bass.
5: How do you wire it in?
It's just wired to ground (the back of a pot, etc).
