grumble
This is what I want more than anything at the moment, if only to see if it sounds as good as I remember basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=66194 Unfortunately I'm not a gigging player so that price is very hard to justify
Alfie
For a long time I have wanted a Fender P that is the same age I am (b.1983) The one I have been gassing forat Classic and Cool Guitars for looks like it has been sold: There is an almost identical one for sale on Denmark Street, but it has been modified and I reckon a grand is too high a price to pay for an 80s bass that has been fiddled with (even if I would have put in a set of Wizards anyway). paul h
I'm quite taken with this at the moment http://www.hutchinsguitars.com/prod_details.aspx?pid=51 but I have to confess with being quite bored with bass guitar at the moment and think we should all be replaced by tuba players. Chris2112
Currently my Musicman Sabre special is my bass of the moment. It's a 1980 Sabre neck with gold Schaller tuners, with a new fretless African Blackwood board on it. The body was handmade by the bloke I bought it off, Bubinga back with a Thuja top. All the hardware is brass, and it weighs and absolute ton! It really makes my Warwick Thumb feel like a Stratocaster in comparison! Luckily I get to play most of my fretted stuff sitting down! It has a SD Bassline MM pickup and sounds absolutely incredible. It's so burpy, I am convinced the MM pickup placement is the best for fretless stuff now! Even the controls are made of beautifully turned ebony. The bass is just ridiculously well made, it oozes quality and it sounds incredible. I don't have any pictures yet so I'll try and link in the seller's picture... I bought it off forum user Shaggy. His name is Greg and he's not a big time builder, but he really knows how to make a quality product! Also, given how good this bass is, it was an absolute steal too, I'd have to spend a lot of money to find a fretless as good as this! parker_muse
I've been playing a Fender 50's Classic Precision for a couple of months now and the tone is pretty nice but i wanted something more modern and the neck was too thick, hence it's for sale at the moment. I went out and had a little try of some basses and one of the assistants asked if i fancied trying an ATK310. I hadn't really thought about them but i love stingrays so i gave it a go. The neck is very stingrayesque - chunky but lightening fast. The EQ had loads of variety but you could nail a classic P thump, get a nice slap tone and something trebbly and blasty quite like entwhistle. It was in some form of mint or seaform finish and i fell in love with it completely. I can't wait till i can get it - i might look on here for one with a maple fingerboard as i've always been a maple man. I'd reccomend one to anyone - a stingray on a budget and more.
