Kev Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 So, i was playing bass through my peavey combo 300, when suddenly the output dropped to a really low volume. Increasing the output volume on the amp just created distortion rather than an increase in output. Then it stopped making a sound altogether. The preamp seems fine when using the preamp out jack, but there is no amp output at all. I confess amplification is by far my weakest bass subject, havn't got a clue. Any ideas what has happened? MB1 Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 MB1. Have you tried any other bass through the same combo? Quote
Mr. Foxen Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 I got that when I shorted the speaker. Check for a blown fuse inside in the general area of the outputs. Unplug it before you open it. Or I think you are near where Iam wandering to get my shopping, I'll pm my number, text and I can have a quick look, score fuses at maplins as necessary. Quote
Musky Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 Yeah, check with a different bass and leads first. I've had the output on my amp fade down on me before cutting out altogether. I found it would still work with the bass plugged into the effects return (with none of the pre amp functions, obviously). Turned out to be a dirty input socket, cured by cleaning with switch cleaner. Quote
Kev Posted October 26, 2009 Author Posted October 26, 2009 As said, preamp works fine, and outputs to headphones/mixer just fine. Had the thing open and looked at fuses, loose connections etc, and everything seems fine, fuses havn't blew(I found 3). Quote
Subthumper Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 (edited) Try it with another speaker and also check the connections, you may have dirt/corrosion in the output jack. If no luck try heron music, they'got a good tech and are a peavey dealer. Edited October 27, 2009 by Subthumper Quote
