niceguyhomer Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 I have recurring Bongo GAS, I have two really nice basses at the moment but every now and then I look at a Bongo and well, it's a bit like Close Encounters when they keep seeing the shape of the mountain and come over all peculiar, I get drawn towards them. I hate the look of them but having owned two - a 4HH and a 5HS, I can quite categorically state that for me and the way I play, there's nothing better sounding and easier to play than the proverbial and much maligned toilet seat at full throttle. Had to share that....... na, didn't work, I still want one Quote
Rayman Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 (edited) Best looking Bongo I ever saw...... I love the shape, I'm just not into the mad colours, so natural like the one above would be awesome. Surely a Bongo 5HH is the only bass anyone could ever really need? (edit; yes I know this one is an HS) Edited October 27, 2009 by Rayman Quote

niceguyhomer Posted October 27, 2009 Author Posted October 27, 2009 You're absolutely correct Chris - both purchased off Paul_C. Loved 'em to bits but you know what I'm like Thanks Russ - that's gorgeous and I want it now. Quote
Old Horse Murphy Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 If i can help in any way by possibly relieving you of your P5 Alan I'm more than willing to try Quote
pantherairsoft Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 I have the same problem with the Bongo... I play an Overwater and whenever I play a Bongo I think 'its not as nice as my Overwater'... yet the though of a Bongo 6 is so exciting I come over all funny! Quote

MB1 Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 (edited) MB1. deej Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Ive wanted a bongo for so long, but just dont have the money. I think theres a lot of colours that make them look rank, but when you find a sweet one you just know you need it! Quote
mark_random Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 For all those with serious Bongo GAS, we've got a lovely Bongo 5 in Black Metallic in the GAK bass department at the moment. I've got it on the wall at £799 but if any BassChatters want it, I'm offering it for £699. PM me for more info, pictures etc. Quote
TDM Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 I'd love a bongo too, probably a white 5HH for me. My only gripe is that they've got painted necks - it's understandable why a set neck/neck-thru could be painted, but why would anybody want to paint the back of a bolt on neck?! Quote
niceguyhomer Posted October 27, 2009 Author Posted October 27, 2009 I'm not usually a fan of painted necks but it didn't seem to matter on mine - they felt good. Quote
stefboltonfc Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 I'm going to sound like such a tool here... but what the hell is a GAS? *embarrassed face* I'll hide in the corner and wait for the laughing to commence. Quote
Lfalex v1.1 Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 I liked the 4HH I played at Bass Merchant last time I was there. Funds do not currently permit GAS to function correctly. More's the pity. Quote

niceguyhomer Posted October 27, 2009 Author Posted October 27, 2009 yep - GAS is an infectious disease around here Quote
Owen Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 I have owned 2. They speak with the voice of thunder. Quote
OutToPlayJazz Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 I've always fancied a mighty Bongo HH. Luckily, I've never happened on one in a store or elsewhere, so I've never got hooked on them. Egyptian Smoke for me. Quote

Bigwan Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 I love Bongos. My 5HH was awesome, except the string spacing was a wee bit too tight for my sausage fingers. Along came Kerr with his 4HH (in EXACTLY the same finish) and a short round trip on the ferry to Scotland and now I'm as happy as the proverbial pig... Quote
dub_junkie Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 best trade I ever did mate. your old 5HH is just epic! Sapphire Black is a cool finish. very understated. Quote
niceguyhomer Posted October 30, 2009 Author Posted October 30, 2009 Are you bringing that to Moffat dub_junkie? Quote
