Randy_Marsh
On the song Stellar on Make Yourself, on the bass fills from about 56 seconds does he use any effects? or is that just raw tone? Alex really does have a beautiful sound (imo of course) Video Here
Spoonman
I'm pretty sure that's just his clean sound. You're right that though it's a nice sound indeed. I think he played Warwick's through Eden amps, not sure about his fx. Quality song though..
JakeBrownBass
http://guitargeek.com/rigview/360/ Tbh though, in the studio the producer could of done anything to that tone. Theres going to be more on it than you think but i'm gonna say, compression, subharmonic processor are the two main things going on there. I think thats a staple part of his recording tone for Make Yourself & Morning View

spacecowboy
I get a very similar sound to Dirk's tone from my Stage II , its a very mid range bass with a huge amount of growl when you dig which Dirk does alot, just watch Live in Chicago to see that! Nothing a little compression isn't going to help amplify either! I love his tone on that album and in general! big inspiration.
