OLP MM3 nut issues

I've been bothered by an annoying rattle on the open E string of my OLP MM3. The rattle can be stopped by applying pressure on the string above the nut. I'm also rather perturbed by the fact that I can move the string out of the nut slot by hand even when it's correctly tuned and therefore under tension. Never been able to do that so easily before. What is likely to be the problem? Nut too low? Nut slot not filed correctly? Should I just fit a new nut? If so, what kind do people prefer around here?

Don't have any specific answers but here's some more info

Hopefully someone who's had a similar problem previously will respond soon.

Sorted it:

That enough break angle for you, Mr. OLP MM3? :)

Open string rattles eliminated. Yes, it does seem odd, but the screws weren't quite far enough apart to go to the outside of the 4 strings it's holding down. Didn't want the strings scraping past the screw threads. However, it's not so bad because visually it's in the middle of all the strings. Hope it doesn't pop out under the strain...
