mrjim Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 (edited) Can anyone tell me what kind of pedal I can buy to replicate this sound? From browsing the web, the Electro Harmonix muffs appear to be similar but there are that many to choose from plus I don’t have a clue what else is out there. I've found a sound clip if this helps: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fnzKZFWnY6w (Skip to 1:50 for the solo bit) Edited November 2, 2009 by mrjim Quote
Mr. Foxen Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 Sounds like a big muff and agressive playing with bright strings. Those misfits sig strings are grotesquely bright. Quote

Also don't like being wound and unwound from tuners when I stick them in the meths bath, two have snapped at the bit where the cut tip goes into the middle of the tuner, careful when I wind them back on, only got enough length for 4 more washes. TRadford Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 I wouldnt think Jerry actually uses the signature strings. Misfits have thier name on everything from hot pants, to pencils to airfreshner (not kidding) Its well known that Jerry will and has milked the Misfits name for everything he can get. That said, Misfits do rock! Quote
JHBASS Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 You could possibly use a standard Reissue USA Big Muff (not bass specific) because to my ears it sounds fairly similar. However, Im sure there are more peeps out there who are far more knowledgeable than me! Here is a video of my messing with a USA standard Big Muff on my bass and the sounds you can get (sorry for bad sound!) the setting i would guess, would be tone all off (anti clock) and sustain/distortion maxed out (fully clock) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaWybYd0RVA see what you think, not everybody's type of sound.
