KevB
How did the East and the Nordstrand compare with the original electronics on your bass? Edit: Reason I ask is that they're both modelled (IIRC) on the pre-EB circa 1979 stingray electronics... your bass looks to be around about that age.
My bass came with non original electronics when I bought it I'm afraid. The bass is a 79 but there was a 1991 pre and PU in place. I thought it sounded a bit 'brittle' so I sold the modern electronics and bought the Nordstrand and JE pre. If I'm brutally honest to my ears (not a stingray expert) there isn't a massive difference. But as I said in my post I think it sounds slightly 'warmer' with maybe a more rounded tone than it used to. Not a huge difference. I was hoping to bring it along to a bassbash some time to compare alongside a genuine late 70's ray. Just been too busy to make the last couple. Old Horse Murphy
I've just got it home and plugged it in....WOW. Sounded good before but the East preamp adds just a bit more definition to the sound. It looks amazing in the flesh too. Well happy

KevB
It's a sweet looking bass, I'd love the chance to play it some day. That, and the Horsey bloke's one.
I hardly use the stringray at the moment so I'm actually open to sensible offers on it, but not desperate to sell.
